In concrete terms, this means that the deboning location in Boizenburg (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) will close. The approximately two hundred employees have now been informed. Danish Crown will bundle its activities at its main location in Essen, near Bremen.

Reorganization
CEO Jais Vailleur says that the activities in Germany should become more profitable. In this way, the overcapacity is cleared. The intention is also to make the slaughtering and processing plant in Essen more flexible, more in line with the declining meat consumption. In addition, Danish Crown does not have access from Germany to export markets outside Europe, due to African swine fever. Not only in Germany, but also in Denmark Danish Crown announced a reorganization at the end of last year.

Danish Crown is not the first party to implement restructuring in Germany. Market leader Tönnies has also announced a reorganization of its slaughter capacity. Just like Vion, which is closing a deboning location.
