The improving pig prices have boosted confidence in the piglet market. This results in a strong increase in the DCA BestPigletPrice.
The piglet market is constantly experiencing shortages and this will continue for a while. This drove piglet prices up in the past week. Now that pig prices have also started to increase, the rate of increase is increasing.
Fattening pig farmers understandably think the price increase is happening too quickly. The idea is that the extra benefits will evaporate due to the higher piglet costs. The other side of the coin is that the pig market later this year may be even more characterized by tightness than now, which means there is solid potential for growth.
Six for BPP
In addition to excellent domestic sales opportunities, piglets are also attracted abroad. The Spanish question stands out. German demand is also good. In Germany, the VEZG quotation increases this week by €3 to €67 per piglet. In the Netherlands, the DCA BestPigletPrice also takes a significant step by increasing by €2,50 to €61,50. This means that the BPP has a six for the first time in almost two years.
