13 March 2023 - Wouter Baan

The piglet price of DCA does not rise any further this week. This marked the end of the spring revival.

The fact that the market is now leveling off is mainly due to slowly declining demand. This applies to both domestic and export demand. For example, export prices to Spain have recently fallen below the €100 limit (including VAT).

Supply remains tight
The supply is and will remain tight, although it is expected that this will increase seasonally in the coming weeks. Nevertheless, the piglet market is in a solid position, which means that current prices could hold for a while, in line with stable pig prices.

After ten weeks of price increases, the DCA BestPigletPrice now remains at €75,50 per piglet. The German piglet price (VEZG) had already leveled off at €80.
