Wyno Zwanenburg (1963) is from April the new chairman of the Coalitie Vitale Varkenshouderij (Coviva). In its own words, the partnership of various chain parties has appointed a highly experienced director to further shape the action programme. Former pig farmer Zwanenburg succeeds René Coppens.
Zwanenburg is an old acquaintance in the sector. Between 2003 and 2013 he was chairman of the Dutch Pig Farmers' Union, which later became part of the POV. Until 2016 he was a pig farmer himself. In recent years he has been active as an independent consultant in the field of strategy and public affairs, including in China.
From April he will therefore start working as chairman of the Coalitie Vitale Varkenshouderij, in which various chain parties such as Vion, ForFarmers, Agrifirm, Topigs Norsvin participate together with the POV and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. These parties have unequivocally agreed to the appointment of Zwanenburg, who they believe will bring along a large network.
Since 2016
The Vital Pig Farming action program was established in 2016 with the aim of realizing a better revenue model in the sector. Since 2019, under the retiring chairman René Stevens, a sustainability program has been implemented with two tracks: the remediation/termination of companies (completed) and innovation and sustainability. With the arrival of Zwanenburg, the coalition says it is entering a new phase, in which ambitions from the sector will be incorporated.
