The pig market has been characterized by a tight supply for months. Due to the cancellation of a slaughter day on Easter Monday, the shortage is temporarily interrupted, but that does not put pressure on prices.
In the not too distant past, the Christian holidays sometimes spoiled sentiment on the pig market. In the sense that slaughterhouses made use of a wide range to tinker with the pig price. There is no ample supply this year, the tight supply in Europe will at most be camouflaged.
As expected, pork prices are holding up again this week, with the German pork price holding on to the record level of €2,33 per kilo. This price level will probably remain on the boards in the week after Easter, because there is little reason for price movements at this time. Pig prices are also stable in the Netherlands.
