The DCA BestPigletPrice cannot follow up on last week's price increase. The listing will remain the same this week.
In other years, the market was often in decline at this time of year, but that is not the case yet. It is true that the seasonal revival is coming to an end. It is noticeable in the trade that the number of piglets is slowly increasing again, reinforced by the loss of slaughter days.
This results in better balance between supply and demand. Export markets such as Germany and Spain continue to demand Dutch piglets, although demand is less wild than it was. This will probably remain the case in the coming months.
Sideways quotes
All in all, a sideways move that fits the current market situation. The DCA BestPigletPrice therefore remains at a record level of €77,50 per piglet. The German VEZG listing is immediately at €84,50.
