Prices on the piglet market have remained stable for weeks now. This resulted in virtually the same picture as on the fattening pig market. Still, not everything is stable.
The supply of piglets is slowly starting to lag slightly behind the number of available laying places. The result is that fattening pig farmers sometimes have to be patient, traders note. It has no effect on the price for the time being. That seems 'a bit political', one of them responds, but offering more to fill the stable does not seem to be an option that pig farmers are currently interested in, he knows. It would just cost everyone money.
Demand from Germany is now good, but stable, while from Spain the piglets are being pulled less hard.
Stable prices
