ABZ and De Valk cooperative are interested in a merger

3 October 2023 - Wouter Baan

ABZ De Samenwerking and Coöperatie De Valk Wekerom will start a merger investigation in November. In January, both companies announced that they would be working together and that is going well. A merger is desirable in order to respond to future developments in Dutch livestock farming.

The members' council and supervisory board have agreed to further elaborate the merger. The possible merged company would have good coverage across the Netherlands via eight factories. The idea is also that by joining forces we can better respond to (future) market concepts for animal products.

Efficiency improvements can be made, which is not illogical in view of the expected decline in livestock farming. After collaboration in recent months, the joint conclusion is that both cooperatives fit together well.

ABZ De Samenwerking's sales amounted to approximately 2022 tons in 850.000. De Valk Wekerom's sales amount to approximately 250.000 tons, a large part of which is organic. With a merger with De Valk, ABZ De Samenwerking will strengthen its position as the fourth largest compound feed producer in the Netherlands.
