Van Rooi is taking over the Tomassen slaughterhouse in Someren in Brabant, the company announced in a press release. The company is thus taking its next step in expanding their beef chain.
Van Rooi has had a beef and veal bone location in Someren for some time now, called ProViande. The expansion of the chain with the takeover seems a fairly logical step since the slaughterhouse already slaughtered cattle for Van Rooi. ProViande already has a majority interest in the Tomassen. In addition, the slaughterhouse is a short distance from ProViande's deboning facility.
The takeover is a strategic choice. Van Rooi wants to make it possible to purchase a complete package of beef and pork. With the acquisition, Van Rooi wants to strengthen their position in both retail and food service. The takeover does not mean that Tomassen will work exclusively for Van Rooi. The press release states that the company will continue to serve its other customers.
