The DCA BestPigletPrice rises this week for the sixth week in a row. Just like last week, the market is characterized by a tight supply.
The supply is tight, but the demand for piglets is also described by traders as good. This is despite the fact that pig prices no longer seem to benefit from a Christmas bonus, which could have strengthened the enthusiasm on the market.
The conclusion for fattening pig farmers is that the piglet costs are quite high so that, with current knowledge, they can expect a decent return next spring. The DCA BestPigletPrice increases this week by €1,50 to €67 per piglet.
Piglet prices are also on the rise in surrounding countries. For example, the VEZG quotation increases this week by €1 to €72 per piglet. The difference between the DCA BestPigletPrice and the German quotation has now decreased considerably.
