Compaxo buys slaughter capacity from Pali

Compaxo has taken over the activities of Pali Group in Geldrop. This involves the slaughter of approximately 15.000 fattening pigs per week. In the new construction, the supply will be housed in Zevenaar and the deboning will partly take place at Pali Meat in Oss.

The acquisition is the result of a collaboration between both companies that has existed for 20 years. Compaxo's wish is to make better use of the pig slaughter in the recently renovated slaughterhouse in Zevenaar. Pali Group had no room to grow in Geldrop due to permit restrictions. It has therefore been decided that the slaughter of pigs will take place by Compaxo in Zevenaar from April next year, through a takeover of the slaughter capacity in Geldrop.  

Listing remains
This does not mean that Pali is getting out of the pork business. Some of the carcasses are bought back by Pali Meat and then deboned and further processed at the location in Oss. A spokesperson for Pali says that this construction was deliberately chosen. This means that Pali's pig listing will not automatically disappear after the new setup.

The Consumer & Markets Authority still has to approve the takeover.
