After eight price increases in a row, with the DCA BestPigletPrice (BPP) rising by almost €10, the listing only takes place in the broken week between Christmas and New Year.
The BPP stabilizes at €69,50 per piglet. A change that was to be expected, although some traders also emphatically advocated a further increase this week. Based on the average price range, this almost happened.
It shows the appetite in the market, which is mainly a result of a tight supply. Even in the broken weeks, the supply of piglets is 'nothing too big'. The piglet market will probably resume its upward trend in the new year, as is historically common.
The German VEZG listing is also in line at €73 per piglet. The Spanish quotation did increase by €2 to also €73.
