Feed company FransenGerrits from Erp has achieved more turnover and profit in 2022. This is evident from the annual report that was filed with the Chamber of Commerce at the end of last year. Despite the positive results, the company is concerned about shrinking animal numbers in our country, for which it has initiated a lawsuit against the government.
Turnover increased by just under 2022% to €20 million in 250. In addition to higher raw material prices, sales were probably boosted by the purchase of Theeuwes compound feeds which was taken over that year. An explanation of the figures cannot be found in the annual report.
Bottom line, the result increased by more than €1,2 million to €6,62 million. This amounts to a net profit margin of 2,5%, which is quite high compared to other compound feed companies. The solvency of 77,9% can also be considered high. This percentage has continued to increase over the past five years.
Stoppers scheme is hitting hard
Despite strong solvency and excellent results in recent years, the family business is nevertheless concerned about continuity. Together with P. Bos Veevoeders, the company is therefore one legal proceedings started against the state to be compensated for the adverse consequences that the stopper scheme in pig farming has for them.
Due to the shrinking pig numbers, they are now missing out on sales. According to FranssenGerrits, this amounts to 10% of sales. This is equivalent to 50.000 tons of feed, which amounts to €20 million in loss of turnover, it was announced at the beginning of October. A ruling in this case has not yet been made.
