The DCA BestPigletPrice will also take a standstill in the last week of January. This means that the piglet market will close the first month of the new year in a stable manner.
Now that calm seems to have returned to the pig market, the piglet price is not yet ready to rise. According to insiders, stability is still too fragile for this, although meat parts prices have also found a bottom this week, according to figures from DCA Markets.
The demand for piglets took a hit due to price drops on the pig market in early 2024. At the same time, the range is not overly wide.
Changing expectations
Some traders therefore expect an improving piglet market soon. Others are more reserved. Historically, piglet prices often rise in February, but it should not be forgotten that piglet prices are already historically high at this time of year. A price rebound therefore does not seem likely in the coming weeks, but small steps upwards are also not unrealistic to expect.
Based on the statements, the DCA BestPigletPrice remains the same for the seventh week at €69,50 per piglet. The German piglet price (VEZG) also remains at €73 per piglet.
