After years of consecutive growth figures, feed sales at ABZ De Samenwerking will decline slightly in 2023. The number of customers is increasing.
Compound feed sales last year amounted to 777.000 tons. Including loose raw materials, 942.500 tonnes were sold. This is a decrease of 2,34% compared to a year earlier. Compound feed sales fell slightly faster, but this was compensated by the sale of loose raw materials.
The number of members increases from 2.601 to 2.677 due to the addition of new customers. The fact that feed sales are not increasing is due to the rise of farming concepts in the poultry sector that require fewer animals per square meter.
More profit and higher back payment
Profit increased by €2023% to €1,4 million in 7,3. Of this amount, €2,3 million is used for dividends, which concretely results in a supplementary payment of €4 per ton of compound feed purchased. This is €1 more last year. The cooperative calls it a welcome development that feed prices fell significantly last year and is also pleased with the result.
At the end of last year, ABZ announced The Collaboration a fusion with Cooperative De Valk Wekerto investigate how to respond to future developments in Dutch livestock farming. No announcements will be made about the status of this.
