The mood at the pig market is starting to change

In the Netherlands, pig prices have been stable for a few weeks now, after several slaughterhouses lowered the quotations in mid-April. In Germany, quotations have been flat since the beginning of March. The primary sector had hoped that pig prices would increase in early spring, but that turned out not to be the case. In short, meat sales were too ordinary and the pig supply too wide for that.

Despite the cancellation of a series of slaughter days in May, the pig supply is certainly not (anymore) excessively large at the moment. In fact, several traders report improved sales opportunities. This is probably related to the better weather, which benefits meat sales. In addition, a further decrease in supply is expected in the coming weeks.

There is stability on the meat market, with the impulses from the late start of the grilling season being cautiously noticeable in the form of better demand for attorneys. These components also increased in value this week, according to the flesh mutations of DCA. Many buyers are covered briefly, which means that demand can pick up quickly once the market starts to move upwards. However, that is not yet the case, but what is not yet can of course come. Especially if the loss of slaughter days will no longer be a disruptive factor and temperatures will rise further. 

DCA Scholarship Award 
Based on the statements, the DCA Exchange Price remains at €2,12 per kilo for the slaughtered pigs. The price for live pigs also remains the same at €1,68 per kilo. Last year the market rose convincingly from mid-May. Although such a revival is not yet in sight, the chances of an increase appear to have increased somewhat since this week. The better sentiment is also underlined by the Internet stock market, which today showed a plus again in a long time.
