Not much has changed on the piglet market compared to last week, but the price drop is slowing down somewhat. On the pig market, Vion has postponed the publication of the weekly quotation by one day.
There are still more than enough piglets in the Netherlands in relation to demand. Demand among fattening pig farmers at home and abroad is lukewarm, which is reinforced this week by reduced trading activities on Whit Monday. However, the call for reductions from the trade is decreasing. This is mainly due to more positive signals from the pig market, which is on the rise.
Vion
Vion normally announces the pig price on Tuesday in broken weeks like this, but that has been postponed to Wednesday this week. It can also be seen from this that prices may start to move, also because of the meat market quite attractive. At the same time, the German Internet stock exchange weakened somewhat today, so an increase in the pig market is not yet a foregone conclusion.
