Finally, pig prices are rising again. After no less than ten periods of stability, during which various Dutch slaughterhouses made attempts to depress the market, the quotations are rising...
Van Rooi increases the quotation by €0,02 to €1,97 per kilo. Compaxo gains a cent and thus follows in the footsteps of the DCA Stock Exchange Prize. Compaxo also increased by 3 cents last week, but that was partly a correction to an earlier price reduction a few weeks ago.
On balance, the quotations of both slaughterhouses have increased equally. The same applies to Westfort, which also lowered its performance in between. Vion's quotation rises by 3 cents to €2,02 per kilo.
Meat market is picking up
The higher prices result from positive developments in meat sales. The better weather and rising temperatures are increasing the demand for barbecue parts. This is reflected in higher prices for necks, ribs and shoulders, among other things weekly changes from DCA Market Intelligence.
Based on these changes, the calculated carcass price will increase by €3,58 per kilo. From this point of view, you would conclude that slaughterhouses are taking it easy, but with a negative approach that is also only based on the spot market. Many fattening pig farmers are probably happy with the rising prices, given the high piglet costs in recent months.
Stable German listing
Meat pig farmers who sell on the German listing still have to make do with unchanged sales prices, as the VEZG price remains unchanged at €2,20 per kilo. It is true that this listing was less susceptible to price pressure at the beginning of this year.
