Due to the more positive developments on the pig market, piglet prices can also reach a bottom more quickly. However, it is still a week too early for stabilization.
The decline in piglet prices has been going on for over a month now. Now that the broken weeks are behind us and pig prices are rising again, the market is increasingly better equipped to stabilize quickly.
It is not the case that piglet sales are suddenly going very smoothly again, because Spanish export demand is still failing. Many traders are of the opinion that domestic sales will become easier again. Although the demand is not yet over, the supply is quite limited. Something related to the shrinkage of the Dutch sow herd.
Yet not everyone is convinced that current piglet prices are a good reflection of the market. Some traders believe that further corrections are necessary to bring piglet prices more closely in line with fattening pig quotations.
DCA BestPigletPrice
Based on the statements, the DCA BestPigletPrice will decrease this week by €0,50 to €72 per piglet. The average of the assignments is still below the quotation level. However, given that it is the smallest possible reduction, it is quite possible that piglet prices will continue unchanged next week. This would also be in line with the long-term average.
