After the higher pig prices at the end of last week, there is some hope for the piglet price. In any case, the pressure of the last few weeks seems to have disappeared. The situation looks slightly less negative, especially for the German market.
If you look at the export figures, you will see that sales to Spain and Germany are almost the same. That's not the feeling for everyone. It is often heard that sales to Spain are difficult, while sales to Germany are said to be better.
Spanish piglet sales now appear to be almost at their peak, as is usual at this time of year, but so far exports have not been too bad. According to traders, the price is often slightly less on average.
Exports to Germany fell slightly in the last week, but that situation could easily change again. Much depends on whether the positive signals from the German pork market are followed up. Traders are therefore eagerly awaiting Wednesday's quotes.
But in fact, few really dare to move forward. 'A sharp drop in piglet prices is not appropriate for a positive pig market', was a comment made several times. Based on the statements, the DCA BestPigletPrice will drop this week by €0,50 to €70,00 per piglet.
