The sluggish pig market also has an impact on the Dutch piglet trade. This also depresses the DCA BestPigletPrice.
The hope and expectation in the sector was that the relatively high piglet prices of this spring would be compensated by rising pig prices this summer. This kite just doesn't fly.
In fact, it cannot be ruled out that pig prices may even drop somewhat in the coming weeks. There seems to be dormant pressure. This image is also confirmed by the quite sturdy falling carcass parts prices this week.
In the meantime, piglet sales remain difficult. The supply is not necessarily very large, but there is mainly a lack of demand. This is not surprising given the disappointing developments on the pig market. There are also concerns in the country about African swine fever that is on the rise in Europe.
Based on the statements, the DCA BestPigletPrice will decrease this week by €1 to €69 per piglet. The German VEZG piglet price has remained stable for the time being at €85 per piglet. However, there is some movement in the allowances.
