The north of the Netherlands is also on holiday now, just like many parts of Germany. The pig market is also in a holiday mode, with stability being the order of the day for the time being. A relatively tight supply is offset by weak sales of meat, so things are nicely balanced. There is no longer any price pressure.

Outlook uncertain
It is true that the horizon in the market is limited. Meat buyers often have short coverage and do not feel the need to secure volumes far in advance. This was already the case and the unstable market situation of recent weeks has further fueled this idea. Slaughterhouses, in turn, find it exciting to have large frozen stocks. This situation means that there is still a lot of uncertainty for the autumn. However, it is said that sales of by-products outside Europe would be somewhat better.

More massacres to come
With 267.518 slaughters in the Netherlands, the seasonal low seems to have been reached. In any case, the upward trend has resumed in Germany with 719.622 pigs slaughtered. But the market should also be able to handle a little more slaughter. The DCA Exchange Price 2.0 therefore remains at €2,06 for slaughtered pigs and the price of live pigs at €1,62 per kilo.
