Vion lowered the pig price quite significantly on Monday afternoon. What was already in the air has thus become reality. The DCA BestPigletPrice also continues to face price pressure.
Vion reduces the pig price by €0,05 to €1,91 per kilo. This is the lowest level since the beginning of this year. The spring profit that the listing built up in recent months has now virtually disappeared.
Weak meat sales have been plaguing the market for some time. The improved weather also does little to change this. The other slaughterhouse quotations in the Netherlands will probably also fall this week, just like the German market.
BPP further down
The DCA BestPigletPrice also remains under pressure and drops this week by €2 to €53 per piglet. Continued weak demand in combination with ample supply explains this price drop. Moreover, the willingness to sell is not increasing, now that it appears that pig prices are falling again. The German VEZG piglet quotation remains the same at €73,50.
