Vion will appoint a new CEO as of 2025, the company writes in a press release. Vion indicates that the new director fits in with the new course of the company.
This was reported by the food group from Boxtel, owned by ZLTO, in a statement on Thursday morning. Vion is implementing a strategy during this period in which the group is largely withdrawing from the German market and wants to concentrate fully on - as described - 'sustainable chains' in the Benelux. Tjarda Klimp's task is to this strategy not only to implement, but also to translate into a strong improvement in the financial performance of the food group. These are reportedly under great pressure. Vion also announces that it will postpone the publication of the 2023 annual report until the end of October.
Klimp has, according to Vion, a strong agricultural background and extensive management experience. She has been the CFO of Vion for almost three years now. Before that, she held strategic and financial top positions at Corbion and Akzo Nobel, among others. "With my agricultural roots, I am proud to lead Vion further into a future-proof organization, with strong collaboration and innovation as guiding principles. Together with our committed employees and chain partners, we work on food safety, security of existence for farmers and affordability for consumers," Klimp says in the Vion statement.
As part of the reorganization sold Vion recently sold the largest part of its German beef chain to German meat giant Tönnies. The food group has already announced that it has found a buyer for two other production locations.
