As is often the case, not all traders agree on the change in the Dutch piglet price. A number of traders believe that an increase does not fit the market picture, where supply and demand are reasonably in balance. Nevertheless, a group of traders also explicitly plead for an increase.

The reason for this is the high surcharges. The only remedy against further proliferation is a tight piglet price, is the idea of these informants. That is why they opt for a (mild) increase. A limited increase emerges from the statements, just like in the past weeks. The DCA BestPigletPrice increases by €0,50 to €49,50 per piglet. The German VEZG piglet quotation remains at €65 per piglet, but it has fallen less in the past months.

Nevertheless, the room for the Dutch piglet price to rise in the coming weeks seems limited, also based on the flat pig market. However, the situation is improving, as evidenced by the rising meat prices. However, pig prices are not yet rising. Vion, for example, is leaving the weekly price at €1,86 per kilo and other slaughterhouses will probably follow this movement later this week.
