These are not very exciting times on the European pig market. As we wrote last week, prices are set in concrete and there is little prospect of this changing any time soon.
There are enough pigs to fill the slaughter lines as desired. And the meat sales on the European market are not disappointing, but there is no demand for game either. That is simply the situation in a few words. This has been the case since the end of the summer holidays and the current flat picture could well continue until mid-November. Incidentally, everyone seems reasonably satisfied with the current price level, in the sense that farming can be profitable.
Increasing slaughter figures
Striking market data are the Dutch slaughter figures. With 279.674 pigs, the highest number of pigs were slaughtered last week since the beginning of the summer. The higher numbers are perfectly manageable and are well below the level of other years.
DCA Benchmark Price - Pigs
