Van Loon Group closes pig deboning location

30 October 2024 - Wouter Baan

The Van Loon Group site in Roosendaal, where Best Star Meat mainly debones pork, will close at the end of March 2025. Production will be moved to other locations.

"We have of course not taken this decision lightly," says Robert van Ballegooijen, CEO of Van Loon Group. "In a shrinking and highly competitive pig market, it is however essential to continue to organise the supply chain and production process as efficiently as possible. This is necessary to guarantee the continuity and competitive position of Best Star Meat Pork."

The 56 employees at the Roosendaal location were informed of the decision today. A large number of the employees can be accommodated at other locations within the Group, so that they do not lose their jobs.
