Now that pig prices are in more stable waters again, piglet prices are also moving sideways.
The price drop on the piglet market last week was a direct result of the lower pig prices. That is why it is logical that the market continues to move sideways this week, now that the market is calmer again. The DCA BestPigletPrice remains at €49 per piglet. Looking at sales, the Dutch market is reasonably balanced. Demand is moderate, but supply is not overflowing either. There are, however, residual flocks that hang over the market.
Spain
In other years, there was often an increase in demand from Spain at this time of year, but this is not yet visible this year. This may also be because the numbers have been above the level of other years all year long. So considerable numbers are going to Spain, although the free market prices that you can get there are not good. According to traders, the sales are costing quite a bit of money at the moment.
