Still, the seasonal revival has started quite unexpectedly. The advance that started last week is gaining momentum this week.
The demand for piglets is accelerating, it can be said. Not only domestically, but also the demand from the export markets is increasing. Spanish integrations are again prepared to pay somewhat higher prices.
The German market is still somewhat doubtful, as is sometimes indicated by traders. In addition to better demand, the Dutch supply is also becoming tighter, without there being any real shortage.
DCA BestPigletPrice
The DCA BestPigletPrice accelerates this week and rises by €2 to €52 per piglet. This puts the listing €0,50 below the 2022 level this week. Two years ago, the market rose to €56,50 per piglet before New Year's Eve, only to level off briefly in the broken weeks.
A similar scenario is hanging over the market this year, as long as sentiment on the pig market does not deteriorate. For the time being, there is no reason for this, as evidenced by the rising prices for various carcass parts in the run-up to Christmas.
