Vion will now announce the pig price on Wednesdays and no longer on Mondays as was customary. This means that the next publication date will be moved to New Year's Eve.
The reason for this decision is the increasingly volatile market conditions, according to the meat company's commentary. In the past week (week 52), the slaughterhouse's pig price dropped by €0,03 to €1,75 per kilo.
By shifting the publication date of the pig price, Vion joins the other Dutch slaughterhouses that also quote on Wednesday. The German pig price (VEZG) is also announced on Wednesday.
