In the last broken week around the holidays, the DCA BestPigletPrice continues to move sideways.
This is not a big surprise, because due to the loss of slaughter days, piglet sales are stagnating at home and abroad. Piglet prices in surrounding countries are also changing unchanged. Demand is expected to pick up again at the beginning of 2025, although this is also influenced by the development of pig prices. Due to the large supply, these are under pressure.
Piglet prices usually pick up again from mid-January after a breather around the holidays, when Spanish demand also increases more and more. The rapid increase in the Spanish piglet price from €3 to €57,50 per piglet suggests that there is appetite for this important export market.
