Despite the difficult pig market, the DCA BestPigletPrice resumed its upward trend in the new year.
The demand for piglets has recovered considerably, according to traders, now that the broken weeks are a thing of the past. This despite the fact that there is still a pig plug to be worked off. Stopping sow farmers who are running empty is one of the reasons that the market is picking up. In addition, Spain is on the market.
At the same time, there is also a lot of resistance from pig farmers now that the pressure on pig prices is really starting to rise again. Next Wednesday it should become clear to what extent the slaughterhouse prices will drop.
Based on the data, the DCA BestPigletPrice increases by €0,50 to €55,50 per piglet. The German VEZG listing moves sideways further to €60 per piglet.
