The demand for piglets is visibly improving. The fact that more is being slaughtered in the Netherlands is of course helping. The Spanish export demand is also supporting the market.
The direction on the pig market is upwards, as is clear. This fits the seasonal pattern. In addition, the substantial reductions in January now provide extra potential for growth. Spain in particular is on the market, according to traders. This is also evident from the export figures that are above those of Germany, as we also saw earlier today. wrote.
Also inland the placement space for new couples has increased noticeably. The 314.134 slaughters in week 5 certainly contribute to this. For this time of year this is exceptionally high.
Increases continue
The DCA BestPigletPrice increases this week by €2 to €52 per piglet. Given the good appetite that is currently in the market, the market will continue to be characterized by price increases in the coming weeks. Historically, the market continues to rise until mid-March.
Finally, it is good to mention that there has not yet been a run on free piglets, but that the market is noticeably running more smoothly than a few weeks ago.
