Vion is again divesting German components

19 February 2025 - Matthijs Bremer

Vion is selling the remaining locations of Zucht- und Nutzvieh GmbH (ZuN) in Duben, Bernsdorf, Dalum and Einbeck to the company Raiffeisen Viehzentrale (RVZ). With the sale, Vion is permanently ceasing its livestock trade in Germany. Earlier this month sold Vion has already transferred part of its livestock trading activities to ZNVG.

The German economic watchdog still has to judge the sale. If no problems arise, the sale should take place in April 2025. CEO of the German branch of Vion, Philippe Thomas, indicates that he has found a reliable partner in Raiffeisen Viehzentrale. According to Vion, the company offers a long-term perspective to 40 buyers.

The sale is part of Vion's complete withdrawal from Germany. In order to become financially healthy again, the company plans to focus entirely on the Benelux countries. Raiffeisen Viehzentrale does not only intend to expand its activities with this step. The deal also offers access to new customers.
