COV finds new chairman at Van Loon

28 February 2025 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

Manon Houben has been appointed chair of the Central Organisation for the Meat Sector (COV) and the Association for the Dutch Meat Industry (VNV) effective 1 April 2025. She succeeds Laurens Hoedemaker, who resigned from his position effective 1 January. Her appointment will be formally ratified by the members of both organisations shortly after her appointment.

Houben (54) is currently Program Manager Chain Concepts at Van Loon Group. Before that, she worked at Royal GD as Department Manager Pig Health, where she was responsible for relations with slaughterhouses and industry organizations. According to COV and VNV, her veterinary background and broad experience in the meat sector make her the right person for this position.

Ruth Bouwstra, acting chair of the COV, is pleased with her arrival: "Manon is an honest and strategic manager with an eye for what is happening in society. I have every confidence that she will further develop the sector with her knowledge and experience." Aldo van der Laan, vice-chair of the VNV, is also positive: "Her passion for the sector, experience and network within and outside the meat sector make her the ideal chair."
