Piglet prices do not rise further now that demand is calmer

14 April 2025 - Wouter Baan - 2 comments

After ten weeks, the spring revival on the piglet market has come to an end. In the week leading up to Easter, the DCA BestPigletPrice is leveling off, as is the German piglet price. What are the expectations for the period after that?

The market is tapping into a different barrel, partly because there is a broken trading week ahead. A good undertone has made way for 'calm', as traders indicate. The flattened pig price certainly plays a role in this.

Many traders opt for an unchanged DCA BestPigletPrice this week, which remains at €68,50 per piglet. The German piglet price (VEZG) is levelling off this week at €71 per piglet. Stability is also visible in other European countries.

Historically, the piglet market declines after Easter.
