Increasing feed profits and balances are expected for both sow and fattening pig farms. An important side note here is that many unallocated costs will also continue to rise. These include costs for labor, construction and general costs. Higher balances and feed profits are therefore necessary to keep pig farms financeable.

Witness farming
For the sow farming sector, the feed profit level will increase in the long term to €847 per average sow present. The balance will increase to €592 per sow. This represents a significant increase compared to the standards set in 2024, when feed profit and balance were €762 and €513 respectively.

The total other allocated costs (AI, health care, electricity, heating, wat and other livestock costs) amount to €255 per average sow present in the current forecast. In 2024 these costs were still €249 per sow.

Pig farming
For fattening pig farms, the expected feed profit increases to €94 and the balance to €76 per average fattening pig present. In 2024, these were respectively €89 and €72 per average pig present.

The total other livestock costs for meat pigs (health care, electricity, heating, water and other livestock costs) amount to €18 per average meat pig present in the current forecast (last year €17).

Although feed profits have increased by 10% and 73% respectively for sows and fattening pigs in 21 years (compared to 2015 standards), the balances have increased much more modestly. A sign that the higher feed profit levels are also needed to cover the other allocated costs.

Manure disposal
In the budget consultation, the manure disposal costs were also redetermined. The costs for manure disposal over long distances were increased by €2,50 per cubic meter. The costs per cubic meter thus amount to €27,50 per cubic meter. In the long-term forecast, the manure costs are not included in the balance calculation. Including manure disposal costs, the balance for sows amounts to €437 and for fattening pigs to €48.
