The headwind on the piglet market has not yet subsided and will probably continue for a while. That is why the DCA BestPigletPrice is once again...
The listing drops based on the statements by €2 to €62,50 per piglet. Based on the long-term average, the decline will continue for a while and so it remains to be seen whether the psychological limit is strong enough, or whether the listing will fall through it.
The (export) demand for piglets is very low, despite the increase in the pig price in the past week. It should be taken into account that the sales are hampered by the cancellation of the slaughter day in connection with Ascension Day next Thursday.
Somewhat remarkably, the German VEZG piglet price continues to rise and this week climbs by €1 to €74 per piglet. This is made possible by a good demand for piglets from our eastern neighbours.
