Agrifirm has reached an agreement with the UBM Group from Hungary on the sale of the activities in the country. The deal is expected to be completed in August. "The sale fits in with our strategy," the statement reads.
The listed UBM Group is active in crop trading, compound feed production and the distribution of high-quality feed raw materials. The company is one of the largest agricultural concerns in Hungary with a turnover of around €500 million. Agrifirm has three production locations in Hungary. Around 2012, feed production was over 200.000 tonnes. It is not known how much volume that is now.
According to Agrifirm CEO Piet Hilarides, the sale is in line with the long-term strategy of the cooperative: "We focus on markets where we are strong and see sufficient growth potential. Agrifirm Hungary has become a solid and financially healthy company thanks to years of dedication from our people. With UBM, the company gets an owner who is firmly rooted locally and enables further growth."
The transaction is expected to close formally in August 2025. The amount involved is not being disclosed.
