Meat pigs are also in demand during broken weeks

The regular slaughter rhythm has been 'disrupted' several times in recent months by broken weeks around holidays and commemoration days. Whit Monday will be the last day for the time being that a slaughter day is cancelled. This means that the tightness of the pig supply will probably only really be tested in the coming weeks. One thing is certain: further tightness is looming. Certainly in the Netherlands due to the many stoppers, but also in Germany. 

Signals
The supply can also be placed easily next week, according to the market. Slaughterhouses must do their utmost to obtain sufficient pigs. This is reflected in the quotations that also rose further last week at Compaxo, Van Rooi and Westfort. Vion did not increase. The quotation also remained unchanged in Germany. There are, however, signals that the VEZG quotation will rise further in the coming weeks. Perhaps next week already, or otherwise probably later in June.

The chances of an increase are fairly certain, given the further decline in the supply of pigs in the coming weeks. In addition, meat sales are expected to increase further in the coming weeks. Certainly if the temperatures in North-Western Europe start to rise, the demand for fresh parts will increase. In the past two years, the quotations in June continued to rise and that scenario seems to be repeating itself. However, it is true that slaughterhouses are tempering their expectations. And that is understandable given the demand market they have to deal with. 

DCA Benchmark Price - Pigs
With this week's moderate increase in the DCA Exchange Price 2.0, traders are opting for a larger plus for the coming week. Based on the information, the quotation for slaughtered pigs increases by €0,02 to €2,12 per kilo. The price of live pigs increases by €0,01 to €1,66 per kilo.
