The price of piglets has fallen again this week. Breeders indicate that they are suffering from the decreasing number of slaughters. The supply remains clearly greater than the demand, which makes piglets relatively difficult to sell.
Sow farmers indicate that the lower slaughter figure is noticed by multipliers. Because clearly fewer pigs are slaughtered, fewer piglets can be sold. In the meantime, the supply is on the high side, because piglet farmers are having a fairly strong year in terms of productivity.
Meanwhile, exports remain weak in general. The declining exports to Germany due to the desire of slaughterhouses to buy more in their own country are noticeable, although sales have been largely directed to Spain. Nevertheless, total exports are clearly too low to stimulate the market.
The result of this is another decrease. The DCA Best Piglet Price has taken a step down of €1. This brings the price down to €57,50 per piglet.
