Pig market temporarily on summer recess
Pig prices are stable, and the market isn't particularly exciting. In the Netherlands, as has been repeatedly mentioned, supply is tight, but slaughterhouses are happy with that now that meat sales are at a low ebb.

The VEZG price has been stable at €1,95 per kilo for four weeks in a row. Dutch slaughterhouses are also keeping their prices unchanged. DCA's meat mutations are also flat. Slaughterhouses have (partially) recovered their margins and are comfortable with the current pricing.
The weather in Northwest Europe seems to be improving in August, which could boost demand for barbecue parts. Perhaps this could help revive the stubborn sentiment. In other years, there's already speculation about a late summer revival, but that's less of an issue this time. Confidence in a recovering market is lacking due to the recent setback.
The figures also show that on balance in Europe more pork is being produced than last year. A tight supply in the Netherlands has little impact on this.
Bottom in slaughters not yet reached
At 252.610 pigs, the slaughter figure for week 30 is at its lowest level since 2012. Earlier this year, the slaughter figure was still above the 2024 level. The effect of the closure scheme is clearly being felt. Some barns still need to be emptied, so the bottom hasn't yet been reached. Nevertheless, we should be cautious about expecting too much from this: demand for pork, not supply, has driven prices in recent months and is likely to continue to do so. Generally speaking, demand for pork is weak, or at least not very lively.
In the current market situation, only a stable price is appropriate. Therefore, the DCA Exchange Price 2.0 remains unchanged at €1,93 per kilo for slaughtered pigs. The price of live pigs remains unchanged at €1,50 per kilo.
