The pig market has remained remarkably stable in recent weeks: pig prices and quotations have barely fluctuated. With the end of the holiday season approaching, increased sales are likely, but whether this will significantly boost prices remains uncertain. What does this mean for the DCA Stock Market Price?
The pig supply in the Netherlands isn't plentiful, but at the same time, it's sufficient to fill the gaps in the coming weeks. Slaughter figures are likely to remain stable, although statistics from the Netherlands and Germany for the past week are still lacking to confirm this. Demand for pigs ready for slaughter will likely increase in the coming weeks, as normal patterns return and the "R" returns to the month. The meat processing industry will then also be in need of more raw materials.
September revival?
A September market recovery has sometimes been a possibility in previous years, but this is often accompanied by beautiful, sunny barbecue weather. The KNMI forecasts don't really hint at this yet. Moreover, it remains to be seen to what extent the live meat market can benefit from possibly slightly higher meat prices, as slaughterhouse margins have been better in the past. Recovery is still needed there, according to various sources.
A September rally is often not significant; in 2024 and 2022, it was 2 and 3 cents, respectively. The market last saw a significant recovery in the fall of 2020.
With a persistent strong euro With little demand from China, it's difficult for slaughterhouses to sell large volumes on the global market. In other words, European demand will determine the mood in the coming months, but as previously mentioned, the pork supply has increased on balance on our continent.
DCA Benchmark Price - Pigs
It's unrealistic to expect significant increases, nor are decreases in sight. Consequently, the DCA Exchange Price 2.0 continues to trend sideways for the sixth consecutive week, marking the most stable period of this calendar year so far. The price for slaughtered pigs remains unchanged at €1,93 per kilo, and that of live pigs at €1,50 per kilo.
