For the second week in a row, the DCA BestPigletPrice has risen. Piglet sales are going well, but not at a peak.
The piglet trade is showing further improvement compared to last week, but the market is anything but wild. The market is friendlier, and the remaining flocks are off the market. Sales to Germany and Spain are also improving compared to recent weeks.
Yet, the piglet trade is keeping a close eye on the pig market, where the mood feels rather subdued, with prices unchanged. As long as this remains the case, the scope for much higher piglet prices seems limited.
Based on the data, the DCA BestPigletPrice rose again this week to €41 per piglet. The German VEZG piglet price remains unchanged at €44 per piglet. Premiums on this price are typically between €8 and €10.
