Although slaughterhouses are reacting cautiously, there is movement in the pork market. This is evident from the DCA Dutch Pork Price Index. The price is 2 cents higher this week at €1,46 per kilo. The upward trend visible since week 7 thus continues.

The increase is, however, less steep than in previous weeks. According to the market, this is because pork prices previously rose more sharply than meat prices.

Meanwhile, the DCA Dutch Piglet Price Index rises by €2,24 to €54,37 per piglet in week 11. The increase is the result of a strong Spanish market. The country is placing large numbers of piglets for slaughter during the tourist season. This is creating shortages, which are being supplemented with Dutch piglets.
