The pig market remains very stable in the second week after Easter. This is immediately reflected in the DCA Dutch Pork Price Index. The average pig price remains at €1,48 per kilo.

The slaughterhouses also kept prices at the same level. Compaxo quotes a slaughter price of €1,48 per kilo. Westfort assumes a price of €1,47 per kilo. Van Rooi lists a price of €1,43 per kilo, and Vion maintains the latest prices, €1,41 per kilo.

However, the DCA Exchange Price increased by 1 cent. This shows that sentiment is improving somewhat, as some traders had expected a rise. This moderate optimism stems primarily from the demand side. Pork has been selling somewhat better in recent weeks. Nevertheless, there is still no measurable effect on meat prices. The DCA Market Intelligence pork monitor shows that pork prices remained stable across the board this week.

Piglet price remains the same
The DCA Dutch Piglet Price Index also remains unchanged. In week 15, the price was €58,42 per piglet for the third consecutive week. Sentiment in the piglet market has since shifted somewhat. Until about a month ago, there was clear upward momentum in the piglet market due to strong demand from Spain. Preparations for the summer holidays were in full swing during that period. That demand has now been met.
