AgruniekRijnvallei (AR) saw animal feed sales continue to grow in 2025, but the financial result took a step back. The figures were presented to the members last weekend during the cooperative's general meeting.
The cooperative sold over 745.000 tonnes of feed, an increase of nearly 3% compared to a year earlier. With this, AR resumes its upward trend, after sales declined slightly in 2024.
Revenue amounted to just under €369 million last year. The net result after tax was €0,9 million, compared to €2,7 million a year earlier. Managing Director Arjen van Nuland explains the decline as follows: "By deliberately keeping margins low, the benefit passes directly to our customers." He describes the contraction as a volatile market.
The growth in volume came primarily from the poultry and pig sectors. Progress was also made in horse feed, partly due to the acquisition of Vente. In cattle farming, the decline remained limited thanks to new customers.
Less severe national decline
Nationwide, compound feed sales fell by 1,2% to 10,6 million tonnes, according to figures from trade association Nevedi. This decline was less sharp than in 2024, when sales shrank by more than 3%. Sales of pig and poultry feed showed a slight decrease to 3,4 and 2,8 million tonnes, respectively. Cattle feed production rose slightly after years of contraction and once again exceeded 4 million tonnes.
