Farmer drivers sleep with manure policy

30 April 2017 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 17 comments

'The Netherlands does not measure with 2, but with 3 standards when it comes to the standards between nature and agricultural areas', says Jan Cees Vogelaar, chairman of the Mesdag-Zuivelfonds.

The fund recently called for negotiations with the ministry on the new fertilizer policy to stop as long as it bases its thinking on incorrect figures. As a result, you as an agricultural sector are left with your hands behind your back, says Vogelaar. In an interview in the Boerenbusinessstudio, he argues why the agricultural sector should wake up.

Good story, clear and finally not all talk around.

The LTO men have had their KL**** played with, and we pay the damage. With the right research and a little common sense, we now had no surplus, no half-empty stables and an empty wallet.

The problem is that you can shout it from the sidelines, but that the current administrators who sit at the table with politicians will not do anything with it. Because that is admitting their own mistakes.

I find it very easy to say from many how things could have been better and then they are not a member of LTO. If you want good policy, you also have to pay for it, then LTO can also appoint a decent number of employees.

Good story indeed, I just don't understand that the same person a month ago was of the opinion that there should be a GVE standard per ha. Now he admits unscathed that there is no relationship between livestock density and water quality, the latter seems completely justified to me, but then a GVE standard per ha is complete nonsense!!

If you think that those civil servants stand up tooth and nail for the interests of members, then you haven't done much yet! Because a good or bad negotiation result makes no difference to their income! So if it is also a little less for the members, they are not as awake as the members, and that is where things go wrong in "advocacy".

tribe,
I am still in favor of the LU standard because of the robust assurance that there is no leaching to groundwater.
tribe 1 May 2017
With all due respect Jan Cees, but I think it has already been shown in Germany that this does not work, they do not achieve the groundwater quality with 170 kg N from slurry, while in the Netherlands the groundwater quality has been achieved almost everywhere.
Nor do we really understand what an application standard for slurry of 350 or even 400 kg N means if we have a LGF standard per ha. get much lower. Then you can put the manure on it, but then you don't have it.

they are often broader for NATURE than for agriculture

The LTO men and women have expanded their companies considerably and some are still building

My mouth actually falls open when I have to read here that you have to be a member of LTO and have to pay money for better representation of interests. That LTO has been sleeping is not the first time, I have had to notice in several crisis situations (including foot and mouth) that LTO is letting its members down hard and that they have to figure it out themselves when it comes down to it. sees coming. If LTO and other advocacy groups in agriculture want members, they will have to achieve something for their members, so no weak knees and no fooling around with interlocutors who have already screwed you up in advance. Because of this kind of mismanagement by farmers and air cycling there is nothing left of a profitable sector

so if you are not a member you are not allowed to say anything the point here is that before you start a discussion: first determine whether the research data is correct and then talk further

Hi Stammie, in Germany you have a much longer period that you can spread manure, which increases the chance of leaching.
In addition, there is a manure digester on almost every street corner.
The digistat that is released is washed out many times faster than normal slurry. This is because there is no more organic matter in it.
Let's hope that as few farmers as possible participate in Frieland Campina's Jumpstart.

Sideline because lto does not represent interests well, member numbers are declining and lto's blood is dead

Well if you read that LTO drivers are even litigating against their own devised regulations, then the LTO is really dying. You pay for that year after year from your peppered bill. What a mess.
geert June 6, 2017
The farmers are being cheated with wrong reports and figures, it is a dirty policy.
Tel June 6, 2017
Where does LTO actually get its mandate from? And what would it be like if there were no more so-called advocates. I think we would have been much better off then.
goose June 19, 2018
They only look after themselves out of self-interest. Clean up all so-called organisations. It does not benefit a farmer.
