Chance of standstill for dairy cattle in mid-2017

3 May 2017 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 3 comments

'During the match the rules of the game change, everyone is always bad. That certainly applies to dairy farmers who have to deal with this', responds Kees Romijn, chairman of LTO Dairy Farming, to the third amendment to the Phosphate Reduction Regulation 2017.

Romijn talks about the course of the Scheme and what dairy farmers can expect this year. He also responds to the call of Jan Cees Vogelaar for the implementation of the sixth Nitrates Directive action programme.

I almost feel sorry for you that you have to remove 9 cows. Can't understand how you can continue to defend this policy.

The government is unreliable, unpredictable and abandons the farmers. Where are the agricultural politicians from the House of Representatives now, you don't hear them. Where are the agricultural politicians from the European Parliament, Annie Schreijer and Jan Huitema? You don't hear them either. They just let the farmers mess around with Van Dam. It makes no sense to vote for an agricultural politician, if you really need them, they are not there. The water boards should also really look at where the phosphate pollution really comes from, that is the "treatment plants" in the large cities, which simply let the mess run in the event of heavy precipitation because they have insufficient capacity and also the many sewers that are leaking due to negligent maintenance
You can no longer respond.
