BB TV: Helma Lodders

'Manure export to Germany must continue'

June 11, 2017 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 2 comments

The export of Dutch manure to Germany has been jeopardized by the stricter regulations of the German government. In addition, some federal states regard processed manure as waste. The latter has been going on for at least one year.

Helma Lodders, agricultural spokesperson for the VVD, has put written questions to State Secretary Martijn van Dam. This is in response to developments in Germany. 'The impact of the stricter rules should soon become clear.' In this interview she also discusses manure fraud in the Netherlands and what this means for the rules that are being prepared, such as the sixth action program Nitrates Directive.

There should be more European regulations governing the application of manure in the form of kg phosphate and nitrogen max./ha. may comply, there should be no difference in whether it is waste or manure, it is just animal or human waste which is simply called manure. The problem arises with fermentation where products from the AA list are added, these substances must also be applied in European regulations, now each country regulates it in its own way. The whole thing cries out for joint regulation.
